App Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the Velur mobile app collects, why, and the choices you have. Velur controls your Velur aroma diffuser over Bluetooth. You can use the entire app — power, mist, light, timer and weekly schedule — without creating an account.
1Information we collect
Always, from the moment you open the app
Two things happen on every launch, whether or not you ever sign up:
- A notification identifier. Our notifications provider is given a device identifier and a push token, along with your device type and language, and it derives an approximate country from your network address. This exists so we can deliver a notification to your handset. It is not your name, and until you sign up it is not attached to one.
- An app-update check. The app asks our update service whether a newer version of its software is available. That request carries the app version and platform, and — as with any request over the internet — your network address.
Only if you choose to sign up
The sign-up form is optional and skippable. If you complete it, we collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Gender
- Birthday (day and month only — never the year)
- Country and city (as you select them from a list; not your GPS location)
From that point the notification identifier above is associated with these details, so that a message can be addressed to you.
What we never collect
Your GPS or precise location, your contacts, your photos, your files, or anything about your use of other apps. We do not use advertising identifiers and we do not track you across apps or websites.
2Bluetooth
Bluetooth is used only to find and control your diffuser. No personal data is collected through Bluetooth, and your diffuser settings — strength, light, timer, weekly schedule and the names you give your diffusers — stay on your device and on the diffuser itself. They are never sent to us.
3How we use it
- To deliver the app's own functionality, including checking for software updates.
- To send you offers, new-fragrance announcements and occasional reminders (only with your consent).
- To personalise those messages (for example, a birthday greeting).
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
4Who we share it with
To provide the service we use these processors, who are contractually required to protect your data to the same standard:
- Google (Google Sheets / Apps Script) — stores your sign-up details for us.
- OneSignal — delivers push notifications; receives a device identifier and push token on every launch, and, once you sign up, your name, gender, city, country and birthday as tags so messages can be relevant. OneSignal processes this data in the United States.
- Expo — hosts the software updates the app checks for on launch.
The app also shows the Velur online store inside a window. Pages you browse there are subject to the storefront's own policy, and nothing you do in that window is reported back to the app.
All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
5Notifications
Marketing notifications are opt-in. You can turn them off at any time in your phone’s settings or in the app, and declining them never limits the app.
6Your rights — access & deletion
You can permanently delete all of your data at any time:
- In the app: Account → delete my data. This removes your details from our records, ends your notification subscription, and clears what the app has stored on your device.
- By email: write to info@velurfragrance.com and we will delete your data.
You may also withdraw consent, or request a copy of your data, using the same address.
7Retention
We keep your sign-up details until you ask us to delete them, or until they are no longer needed for the purposes above.
8Children
Velur is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9Changes
We may update this policy; the “last updated” date will change accordingly.
